I chose the 50km walk of the Basingstoke Canal for a few reasons. For starters the canal just happens to be a nice round distance, but also it’s a lovely walk with great scenery, it’s far enough that it’s a big challenge, but short enough that I just about managed to fit it in to one day.
I chose Shrapnel because everyone that works for the charity is passionate about helping injured veterans and it’s just such a worthwhile cause. At the end of my walk my legs ached, my feet hurt, I was tired. I knew that in a few days I’d be back to normal, but for some of these people, their lives have been changed permanently and it’s good to able to do something to help.
